Mark Stecher is a Co-Founder and Director of 5 Star Stays. He has ownership in a number of residential and commercial properties. As property owner his ideal investment property was one which simply paid the rent and he didn’t need to worry about bad tenants who didn’t pay, who only stayed a short time or who damaged the property. Ideally it would be a hassle free investment that just ‘worked’. That wasn't the experience in his first investment property where the tenant did not pay for 12 months and ended up causing thousands of dollars of damage on his brand new investment unit. He ended up selling the unit to purchase a commercial building to run his other businesses from. With his experience in this area, he found there was a gap in the market for someone who would take on the role of managing and maintaining rental properties. He has a business background beginning in 1985 and over the past 30 years has owned and run a number of successful technology companies.

Cel Olivo is a Co-Founder and Director of 5 Star Stays. Cel is from the Philippines and her first venture into rental investment properties was a property she bought in conjunction with Mark Stecher in Newport City, Manila. The unit was brand new, however the quality of finish was not up to her standards so she spent 3 months organising a complete refurbish and updated the unit to 5 Star Standards. It has been a challenging journey for her over the past two years, however she took the unit to superhost status in 3 months. Even though the unit is fully booked at prices between 20% and 100% more than others in the area, she gets consistent 5 Star reviews.
